Sugar
Sugar is a small bar tucked away in Barrio Gotico, just off the busy street of Ferran. Admittedly it looks rather like a brothel from the outside, with its red light emanating down the dark alley-way, but get closer and you will find a unique and lively bar open till 2 in the morning.
Often there is someone handing out flyers on the corner offering you a free chupito with your first drink, not that you will need it as during the middle of the week beers are only 1.50 euros, mixers 2.50 euros, and cocktails 3.50 euros.
The bar itself oozes a calm and relaxing atmosphere as there are very few normal seats. Instead there are mountains of cushions to sit on and little alcoves to get comfy in.
It is filled with all types of people without losing its authentic Spanish feel. So as you sip your classic mojito or down your cerveza, you will be surrounded by people of all nationalities and ages.
Saugar is right in the heart of Barrio Gótico. The nearest metro stop is Liceu, but it is only about fives minutes walk from Cataluñya.
