Magic Fountain

Font Magica is a huge fountain, which was built at the bottom of the Montjuic hill to make the World Exhibition in 1929 even more attractive.The main designer was Carles Buigas. Unfortunately, after years of use the fountain and the grounds around became more and more neglected. In 1992 on the occasion of the upcoming Olympic Games fountain was restored to the original splendor.
Nowadays the fountain is one of the most impressive touristic attractions of Barcelona. Lots of people go to Montjuic to see the marvelous spectacle from water, light and classical music. Watching this gives a feeling of seeing pure magic, like in a Disney movies.

The Museu National d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC) is housed in the Palau National, a neo-baroque palace. The museum building is located at the bottom of the mountain Montjuïc. The Palau was originally the Spanish Pavilion of the World Exhibition of 1929. After intensive renovation it was reopened in 1997. The museum collected total of more than 260,000 objects of art and thus is certainly the largest and most significant museum in Barcelona.
Through a Catalonian Museum-Act, the Museum MNAC was founded in 1990 by the merger of the Museu d'Art de Catalunya (Romantic, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque) and the Museu d'Art Modern (art of the 19th and 20th centuries).

The Centre of Contemporary Culture in Barcelona (CCCB) organizes and produces exhibitions, discussions, festivals and concerts. What is more it is possible to watch films, visit courses in various areas and readings there. You can find the CCCB directly in the Raval district in the old town, just a few meters from the Ramblas and the MACBA. The CCCB supports artists by providing them space and borrowing their art to other galleries and museums. It is also open to independent artist. Through this versatility, the CCCB is able to offer a high quality, interdisciplinary program.

The Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona does not own any significant permanent collection, but the format and the program is a subject of a constant change. We recommend that you inform yourself on the contents of the current exhibition and events before visiting. The Center contemporània de Cultura de Barcelona is a public institution, which is supported by the provincial government of Barcelona and the city government.
If you need a break, there is also a very nice cafeteria.

Girona is a small airport situated 103 km north east from Barcelona. The official name is Girona Costa-Brava airport, also known as Barcelona Girona Airport (GRO). According to the proper Catalan spelling the name of the city is written with "e" instead of "i" - Gerona. Like Reus is generally used by budget Airlines, for example Ryanair. The main destinations of travellers using the airport are small touristic cities of Costa Brava: Lloret de Mar, Blanes, Tossa de Mar as well as Barcelona, the capital of Catalunya.

The metropolitan transport system in Barcelona i Barcelona is very efficient. In the city there’s a big number of bus lines and a large underground network that covers almost all the city. There is also a modern tram system, and tickets are interchangeable. Prices are reasonable, and there are night buses for those who need to get around after hours.
